A safe learning environment is foundational to education. We will strengthen partnerships with law enforcement, implement evidence-based safety practices, and create proactive systems like a dedicated School Safety Department. From safe routes to school - to policies limiting distractions, our goal is to ensure every student and educator feels safe each day.

• Reduce classroom distractions by implementing strict no cell phones and other electronic devices in schools policies.

• Ensure that all safety and security policies are community-informed and supported by evidence.

• Strengthen partnerships with local law enforcement and emergency services to conduct regular safety drills and assessments.

• Work with local law enforcement to support resource officers and other safety resources.

• Create a School Safety Department that will train resource officers and monitor safety threats to our schools and students.

• Advocate for Ogden to include safe routes to school in all transportation planning and ensure that schools’ needs are reflected in all planning efforts.
