"We urge you to join us in supporting Mr. Mata for the Ogden School Board. Now, as he seeks a position on the School Board, we believe he is the right choice to lead and advocate for our educational community. Mr. Mata cares deeply about every student and is committed to making our schools more inclusive, innovative, and responsive to the needs of all families. His vision for Ogden schools resonates with both of us, and we believe it aligns perfectly with the values our community holds dear."

As PTSO Vice President, I could always depend on Mr. Mata's support to help our school with events and activities.  He is also involved in his community and local politics and uses his life experience to encourage the students to get involved in their communities.  As a former educator, he has a unique perspective on the challenges facing families, and as a community leader, he has the knowledge of how to work through government to get things done.

"Oscar was present as an educator and mentor for my entire high school and middle school education, and I can attest that it is rare to find someone as dedicated to the well-being of their students as he is. He knew every single student by name and he was at school all hours of the day. There was rarely a school dance, sports game, theater performance, or any other activity he wasn’t present for. He recognized each student’s needs and helped guide them on a path to success, including me. Oscar’s constant support in academics, student government, my internship, and more helped put me on a path to getting into a great university with a scholarship. What’s more impressive is that he was able to help not only myself, but so many other classmates of mine simultaneously. I was always appreciative of Oscar’s willingness to go above and beyond and selflessly dedicate so much of his life to his students. He is one of the most devoted educators I have known in my life.

"As a previous student of Oscar's, I've come to recognize the intense amount of effort he puts into everything he does. Whether it's coaching the soccer team or teaching about how students can become civically engaged, he portrays these concepts with real heart. Because he enjoys learning more about his students, he built strong bonds with many, he learned how certain students may need help or different action compared to others. This strong work ethic and dedication to everything he does is more than ideal for this position on the school board."
